Tanks
Posted by Sunday on Mar 13, 2008 at 10:42 pm in Captain's LogI recently came across this, scribbled on a piece of paper in an apparent drunken scrawl. It took me a while to remember that it was written soberly, but rapidly; I was trying to write down what Halcyon was saying, as he said it:
March 13th, 2008 | Captain's LogHave you seen a Sherman tank? It looks like a loaf of bread with a pencil sticking out of it.
Now a Tiger, if you see a Tiger tank coming you shit yourself. It looks like a shark, you shit yourself and you cannot help it, it looks like a shark made out of metal. On land. With a big gun.

The Tiger was a formidable weapon by design, but, unfortunately for Germany’s mechanized forces, only about 1,550 Tiger 1 and 500 Tiger 2’s were produced (as compared to 40,000 Sherman and 58,000 Soviet T-34 tanks*). The Tiger’s kill ratio was a reported phenomenal 10-to-1, still, not enough universal deployment to cause any real concern among the allies.
That’d be like one Halo Spartan for every 50 Covenant Grunts … pretty even odds.

You want to see an amazing tanking machine, you look at the 1917 British Mark IV tank. Seriously, that thing terrifies me to my core. And keep in mind that my core was tempered in the forge of war.
