Wow. I don't know what I would actually do. I totally get the buy a baby, vs. buy a cure for cancer thing. I guess it would come down to holding the test results and resultant statistics in my hand, and then making a choice.
Not easy, either way. I like to think I'd just go for prophylactic surgery, but I wonder why it's not that obvious. Because it's our bodies and we don't like to compromise their integrity. Dunno. Good chewy food for thought.

Flipness is almost always encouraged - and I think you can get a wiener-like object, but totally without sensation or function. Which pretty much defeats the purpose of having a wiener, I'd guess.

Eyesight would be terrible. Don't pick eyesight.

The question isn't really "do you do it yourself now or wait for nature to do it later," it's more like... "Do you risk your life waiting to do it later." I wouldn't.

I actually remember watching a 20/20 or 60 Minutes story a few years ago about a woman in her 20's who decides to get a double mastectomy since every woman in her family has died very young of a hyper-aggressive breast cancer. People were so shocked that she would "do that" to herself, and I was shocked that it was even a news story. They were acting like it was mutilation (though they never said so). Granted, it was a sensational weekly news show...

Actually, I believe you can get a fake weiner, but I'm not sure how biologically functional said appendage would be or if it would require hydraulics. (Line up laides.)

I'm trying to think of a likely scenario in which I'd have foreknowledge of the loss and the option to do it early. Maybe the loss of eyesight, but can you replace that? I mean, I've got a banana clip and some magnets, but I don't think I could get any help making them work together to help me see X-Rays and heat signatures.

I don't mean to be flip, I guess the question is do you do it to yourself now or wait for nature to do it later?
